Position overview: China Director

Eurasia Group is seeking an experienced and distinguished China political expert to serve as a Director in our China practice. We are looking for candidates with range and the ability to bring out the political context in at least one of several areas of China policy: domestic and Party politics, external relations, cross-strait ties, industrial and economic policy, or U.S.-China relations. The premium is on understanding how elite politics, bureaucratic dynamics and leadership objectives impact practical outcomes for global companies and investors. This role is preferably to be based in Hong Kong.  


More specifically, in this role, you will:

  • Assess the political drivers and implications of political, security and economic developments in China of relevance to Eurasia Group clients. 
  • Perform in-depth research under tight deadlines, writing both short analyses and longer papers that build on public analysis with insights derived from contact relationships.
  • Interface with existing clients and participate in outreach to prospective clients. 
  • Manage and coordinate complex research projects.

 

Qualifications:

  • Established record of analytical abilities and professional experience in the China analytical community.
  • Excellent analytical and presentation (oral and written) skills.
  • Fluent English and proficiency in Mandarin Chinese. 
  • Background in government service, think tanks, politics or consulting is advantageous.
  • In-country experience preferred. 
  • An advanced degree in political science, economics, Asia studies, or another relevant discipline preferred but not required.
